Store History: Opened in March 2008. Opened in our new downtown Decatur location in June 2010.

Store Hours: Monday through Saturday, 9:30 to 9:00.  Sunday, 12:30 to 6:30.

Blue Elephant Book Shop is an independent, full-service bookstore with a complete, diverse inventory, outstanding customer service, comfortable surroundings, and a knowledgeable staff with more than 40 years combined bookstore experience.  The store is so named because the owner has been a collector of books and elephants for a long time and her favorite color is blue.

Opened in March of 2008, the store is situated in a thriving retail section of Decatur.  The store is striving to be active in the local community and welcomes the opportunity to host local and regional authors as well as national authors.

We do not sell used books or college textbooks.

Blue Elephant Book Shop is a member of IndieBound (formerly BookSense), the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance, and The American Booksellers Association.  We report our sales to The New York Times Bestseller List and the IndieBound Bestseller List.

Blue Elephant Book Shop has moved! Our location is in downtown Decatur. We're two doors west of Taqueria del Sol, two doors east of Dancing Goats Coffee Bar, and directly across the street from Watershed Restaurant.
